Come tour the downtown york, pa boudoir studio

Where it all started

4 years ago I was shooting boudoir sessions in my home. Once a week, I would move all of the furniture out of my living room, pump up an air mattress and gather all of my many plants and cute rugs and create a makeshift set. Id then kick my husband and dog out of the house and hold marathon days where hair and makeup and styling would happen in my kitchen/dining room and full sessions would happen in my tiny (but well lit) living room. I thought I had the perfect setup because I never had to leave home despite the chaos of moving everything around, deep cleaning once a week and banishing my whole family from their home. Let me tell you, it got old fast.

So began the task of finding my very own studio space. I had no vision, just a budget and a radius Id like to travel everyday.

My first studio was kind of blah looking back. Too big for the light from the tiny windows, No direct light and wonky walls. And the 20ft high ceilings I *thought* were so dreamy just proved to cause issues heating and cooling. But you live and you learn right? With every issue I encountered came a more direct and streamlined idea of what I DID need and want from my space. So in February of 2023, when a dreamy new space came available in the same building as my current studio that solved all the issues I was having, I didn’t hesitate for a second. Best. Decision. Ever.

Where is it?

My studio is located within the iconic and historical New York Wireworks building in York, Pennsylvania. Centrally located within a short drive of Harrisburg, Lancaster, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Baltimore Maryland, just to name a few. I have many clients from the Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey and New York areas as all are within driving distance.

New York Wireworks is an old wire and mesh factory so we have some crazy cool vintage touches throughout the building which spans a full city block and consists of 3 connected buildings. So much history and find industrial touches line the halls and all of the 4 floors. We have secure, camera monitored off street parking in the front and rear of the building, multiple elevators, many public restrooms and quite a few fun and eclectic sitting areas. All of which are cleaned daily by our incredible building maintenance crew.

If you are making the trip, leave some time to stop into the York Merchant and the Wireworks Exchange and Flea, which boasts over 10,000 square feet of Vintage and craft clothing, jewelry, art, furniture, home, health and beauty finds from local artisans and vendors.

After a treasure filled shopping trip, stop into the Wired Chef Café for some of the best and most artfully prepared cuisine and café items. In the summers we host live local musicians for mini concerts and the building itself hosts many extremely talented businesses ranging from tattoo artists, personal trainers, dog groomers, massage therapists, makeup artists and even authors and accountants. It’s a one stop shop for everything you need.

My space

My new space is almost 800 square feet of everything I could want including thirteen, yes THIRTEEN large windows to give us all the pretty light. I’ve poured my heart and soul into every detail and piece of décor and can be completely in control of every fray of light and piece of fabric to get super artistic and use my surroundings to enhance your photoshoot instead of just working around less than stellar location obstacles. So enough with the chit chat, lets take a look around!!

When you enter my space the first thing you notice is the vibes. Ive made sre that everything from the furniture placement, flow, accessibility and even the candles create a cozy, intimate and relaxed space. The studio is split into 3 sections. Immediately when you enter, you will fund the lounge. This space gives us a chill spot to get comfy on a couch and talk outfits, inspo, albums, photo delivery or additional sets (more on these below). The lounge area also houses my size inclusive client closet, a dressing room complete with personal care goodies, cozy robes and slippers for my guests and a fully stocked fridge, bar cart and snack station so you can settle in and enjoy the experience.

To the left is our moody wall. This is a personal favorite for those dark and sultry vibes. Ive created a black textured wall that really sets the tone for adding some dark spicy content to your session. On this side I have a makeup station for my makeup and hair artists to setup and glam you up before your session. We do also work with some artists who have their own studios in the building and will on occasion head to their spaces to settle in and hang out while you get pampered. This side of the room is lined with dark, heavy velvet curtains giving me the option of blocking out all ambient light and creating something super fun and unique with alternate light sources. More on this later.

To the right we have our grey wall and white curtains. This is the most used and versatile part of my space. The grey wall adds a little contrast and mood while still keeping it light and not too overpowering. The white curtains run the length of two walls and backed by many windows that get direct light for a good portion of the day will literally glow in photos. This can create a perfectly light and beautiful backdrop for those white and light bridal styles or the perfect amount of contrast for your more dark and saucy looks.

The whole place has weathered original hard wood floors and many easily moveable furniture pieces including a leather sofa, velvet chaise, bed with freshly laundered and sanitized linens in various colors and textures, benches, stools, ornate chairs and rugs and fun large plants to fully curate and decorate each set to your personal style and vision. Along with all of these customizable features, I also have setups to offer some super fun and unique add on sets to take your session up a notch. If interested in finding out more about these, check out the blog post on add on sets here.

I have put so much time, energy and thought into creating a space that is comfortable, functional and filled with all the good vibes to make sure your experience is just as, if not better than the amazing art we will create when you enter. For more info on sessions, to set up a call or get yourself on the schedule, reach out here!

Cant wait to bring you into my little corner of the world and make you feel like a damn work of art.
